War for Freedom
Glossy lips are seen as seduction
In reality it’s a distraction
Women in red live in disguise
Living secret lives leading to their demise
Handmaid’s battle for their sanity
In order to reclaim their identity
The wildfire within grows brighter each day
Motivating the handmaids to join Mayday
The war for freedom has just begun
Even if it means they come undone

I found the inspiration to write this poem by reading The Handmaid's Tale. Just by reading on how the women were treated really gave me ideas in which direction I wanted my poem to go.
