The False Reality
Online bullying is a growing concern,
A terrible act leaving scars that burn,
Teenagers feel hurt and unheard,
And their confidence shattered, self-worth blurred.
Likes and comments are the number one goal,
Their absence leaves a gaping hole.
Filtering and editing their faces the new norm,
Reality is lost in the social media storm.
The highlight reel of stranger’s lives,
Which can make a teenager feel less alive.
Insecurity and self-doubt, the expense to pay,
As they try to fit in and find their way.
The pressure to fit in, to look “right”,
Can keep a teen up all through the night,
Obsessing over the perfect post,
Ignoring the world around them the most.
