Ode to the Moon
When I look to the night sky
what I see is beautiful,
cratered by imperfections,
scintillating above me
and the world below
dominating the night
challenged by stars
only revealing one side
of your two faces
one dark
the other bright
one of wounds
the other unbeknownst
to human eye
enticed by Earth’s gravity
yet you control your own
the waves crash
in your honor
pulling the tides in and out
even at times
blocking the light from the sun
you show
that being under control
doesn’t mean losing control
