Moonlight
In the moonlight she glistened;
Dancing amongst the stars like the tears dancing amongst her eyes.
The heavenly void above her enveloped her mind,
Her vision,
Her dreams.
She could not escape the night sky.
Yet she felt free;
Alone in the best way.
Where her earthly troubles were insignificant and gravity could not
Hold her.
She wished that the daytime felt like this.
But while the starlight was freeing,
The sunlight was a prison.
Hours filled with frivolous worries that would soon cease to matter but yet
She cared anyway.
Colorless.
Tiring.
Heavy.
Her cries were swallowed by the thick black blanket of the night;
Her tears kissed away by the stars.
The moon whispered encouragement into her ear as it began to fade,
And the black sky turned to blue.
But she did not weep;
The early hours would come again.
And while her days belonged to the world,
The night belonged to her.

I wrote this piece about all the times I've sat on my roof at 3 A.M. and thought about everything that hurt me. The night time helped me clear my mind and my heart, and helped me through some rough times :)
