I'm A Writer
I'm a writer
I run free
I dance along the pages.
Let my mind fly effortlessly
I write what I feel
I let my tears run down my cheeks
Into my heart
Into the cracks
That have been made
By all the pain I've endured
I'm a writer
Free from it all
From the stares
The jeers
The limitations
The laws
That are always binding me
Never letting me fall
Deeper in love
With my writing
I'm a writer
I'm proud to say
Free to speak
Of all the pain
The suffering
The strain
Inflicted upon me
Because my brain
Could never fit
Inside my own head
So I write the rest on the paper
I'm a writer
Escaping through the trees Breaking through the rope
Always bound together
By the hope
That I wouldn't discover
The gift of freedom to write
Everything
I'm a writer
Not a runner
Or a nerd
Or afraid
Im fearless
The paper my shield
The pencil my sword
Because as a writer
I am a fighter
For those who don't know the right words

The word "nerd" means only as much as you give to it.
Great poem :) Very free, strong, and very writer-y.
I shouldn't be giving out advice and I'm probably just a romantic, but I've always thought it was best to do what you love to do. Yes, writing poetry for a living is neither 'pratical' nor 'safe', but if it's your passion, it's worth it. You'll need to be prepared for rejection and barely scraping by, but you're talented and I think you've got what it takes to make it as a writer.
Good luck in life and, please, keep writing. :)
I love it! And I can definitely relate!
My favorite lines are the last three, but they're all quite lovely.
Nicely done!
