What The Creek Showed Me
The sun shines,
warm on my skin.
The cool afternoon breeze
blows through my hair
as I welcome autumn
with open arms.
Like life,
water flows a distance,
winding through jagged rocks;
a tough course heading downstream
at last reaching the calm waters of a pool,
also known as happily ever after.
Me? I have not yet reached that satisfying calm.
For my journey through the path
of rocky waters has just begun.
Twisting and turning
from hazard,
to safety,
and back again.
Life’s complications,
rocks,
have left me bruised,
though not entirely broken.
For I know that with time,
comes healing…
or so I’ve heard.
The light dances on the water,
reflecting my mistakes,
my memories; good and bad,
as well as obstacles
I will soon overcome.
