I wrote this as a creative writing piece in English, in which I was to imitate Emily Dickinson's writing style. At first, I was going to bring the idea of divorce and a spider together, but as I continued writing and editing it became something more thoughtful and carried a deeper meaning. I was inspired to change the spider to a doll, as the spider wasn't fitting into the story to the extent I wanted; there was no purpose of having a spider. I hope the readers of my poem can make out what the doll represents in the situation.
