it's 2 am on a summer night i spent with you a year ago
i can only breathe in
so many moments
thick with life.
you collect
in the time around me
gathering in the cracks
stretching from now
to the end (i see it)
caging me
in wires of your words
and swearing promises
i tried to capture.
but your sentiments,
along with every breath you took,
melted through my shaking fingers
as i whispered your name
through the darkness you became.
