Dying Trees
When the leaves were still green,
we sat here together,
through whatever storm,
through whatever weather.
Our fingers were intertwined,
you carved our names there.
You spoke of sweet times,
and dragged your fingers through my hair.
But then the leaves turned orange,
and yellow, every shade.
you tore my heart in two
with every promise that you made.
Now I sit here all alone,
looking at this carved in tree,
remembering all the times
that you sat here next to me.
