The Book Thief
If you haven’t heard of The Book Thief, open your ears. The Book Thief is a 2013 American-German war. The film was taken somewhere in Eastern Europe, directed by Brian Percival and starring Geoffrey Rush, Emily Watson, and Sophie Nélisse. The film was about a little girl who was adopted by a German family during World War 2. She was treated as a real child by her foster parents.
When the protagonist Sophie Nélisse (Liesel) lost her mother and brother, she was adopted by her foster father Hans. She picked up a book that was dropped by her brother’s burial. Her foster father taught her how to read and write, after that she began to “borrow” books and sharing it with the Jewish refugees that were sheltered by her foster parents.
Geoffrey Rush who played Hans Huberman played a great role in the story. Hans helped take of Liesel when she had nobody. He taught her how to read which made a great impact on her. After that when she started to know how to read she has been stealing books and reading it.
Brian Percival who played as Rudy in The Book Thief also made a great impact on Liesel. He helped Liesel do what’s right and what’s wrong. Been through everything with Liesel, he was like her backbone. Did everything Liesel had ever wanted and he fell in love with Liesel.
Overall, “ The Book Thief “ is one of the best films I have seen. The storyline is interesting and realistic. All the actors showed the write emotions at the right time. I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants to know the struggle people went through World War 2.
